A Chester Country Tradition......The GREAT PUMPKIN CARVE. I remember my first one, it was over 20 years ago in Chadds Ford. An area, rich in artist history, home of Andrew Wyeth artists gather with their glasses of wine and carve, carve and CREATE.
Now it has a web site www.chaddsfordhistory.org/events/pcarve/index.htm
It is a great big EVENT.
I have pictures of myself and my husband attending with the toddlers in tow.......The kids bundled up for an evening in October outing.
It was originally just a bunch of locals (my husband and I met in Chadds Ford) watching people carve pumpkins
An annual event, the day was usually the Thursday before Halloween......
Now its 3 days, admission fees, vendors for hot chocolate.
Its fun, you should go.
It is always very impressive
My favorite time of year. A street party in downtown. Bands, food, people, crafts.......
I love swinging Thursdays which occur the 1st thursday of the month in the summer months. I try not to miss any them. It is a lot of fun.
"SWINGIN' SUMMER THURSDAYJune 4th brings
Swingin' Summer Thursday from 6:30 to 9:30pm. Street music festival for the whole family. Free. "
OK, alright, I didn't know this, did you?
Tomorrow is Mardi GRAS, yes, February 24th is FAT TUESDAY!!!!
It is also called Fat Tuesday because it is the Tuesday before Lent and if you were brought up Catholic, you were thinking of giving up something FATTENING befor Lent starts and on "Fat" Tuesday you would eat something "fattening".
My best friend and I have a
tradition to eat a glazed donut,
or two on Fat Tuesday. :)
The best part is that we get together to do it, but this year I am going to take it to another level....
The
New Kings of Rythm are playing at Spence Cafe in West Chester and I am going to suggest that we meet there for a drink and a night on the town and eat our donuts.
I doubt if I am going to be able to get John to go with me but I will go for at least 1 set.
http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewProfile&friendID=29436984This is a great band, dynamic, local and fun and there aren't too many people who have seen them and don't like their style of entertainment. :)
I am looking forward to a great time.
