  • Buying A Home That Your Dog Will Love

Posted Under: General Area in Seattle, Home Buying in Seattle, In My Neighborhood in Seattle  |  May 9, 2012 11:02 AM  |  67 views  |  No comments

If you are considering moving, or are buying your first Seattle home, you’ll want to think of your dog. Most people that own a dog consider it to be one of the family members and treated it as such.  Even so, many people overlook the comfort of their dog when it comes time to buy a home in Seattle and just assume their favorite pooch will adapt to any new home. This may be true for some dogs, but there are a few dogs that need to be taken into consideration when looking at homes on the market

    1. If your dog is older, it would be unwise to purchase a Seattle home with multiple levels and many staircases. An elderly dog can severely strain his bones and muscles attempting to climb steps, especially if you want your dog to have free run of the house. Steer away from these types of houses if possible.

    2. Young, active dogs or puppies need room to play. If your animal is one that enjoys running around, you should look for a Seattle home with a big backyard or at least a great dog friendly park in the neighborhood.

    3. What sort of Seattle neighborhood are you placing your pet into? You should be wary of the kind of atmosphere you are moving into beforehand, and assess the general attitude towards animals that people in your potential area have. If your dog is one that barks and growls a lot, you don’t want to be stuck next to an elderly old lady that hates dogs.

There are also the local laws that you must observe, such as the laws for keeping your dog on a leash or letting him roam free. The area you choose to reside in should also have parks that permit you to walk your dog, rather than repel him away with nasty signs.

Moving is a big change in your life, but what many people don’t realize is that it is a change for your dog as well. His comfort should be taken into consideration before you make the next step towards buying a Seattle home.

  • Nothing shouts I love you more at Christmas than ZooDoo

Posted Under: General Area in Seattle, Quality of Life in Seattle, In My Neighborhood in Seattle  |  December 23, 2011 7:13 AM  |  622 views  |  No comments

Truly a gift that keeps on  giving all year long, the Woodland Park Zoo is offering for sale the Holidoo and  Zoo Doo compost for sale this holiday season. The limited addition Holidoo is only available at Christmas.  The well-crafted manure  and bedding fom the elephants at the zoo is the richest composting material at the zoo.

The Zoo Doo is made from a blend of nearly two dozen zoo herbiore (animals that eat plants) species. Both the Holidoo and Zoo Doo make excellent holiday gifts for the hard to shop for garden enthuasits.

The Holidoo (elephant blend) is in limited supply and is only available during the holiday season and can be purchased at the Zoo Store in 4 gallon, 2 gallon and pints. Holidoo and Zoo Doo purchases help support the zoo’s animal care, education programs and conservation efforts all over the world.

Wildlife and habitat conservation is the key cornerstone to Woodland Park Zoo’s mission. Utilizing an innovative and comprehensive approach, we focus on a four-part strategy that includes: species preservation, habitat protection, local capacity building and community livelihood.

    About the Zoo

For more than 100 years, Woodland Park Zoo has been a cherished community resource and a unique urban oasis. Generations of Puget Sound families have come to the zoo, the 92 acre site features more than 1,090 animals.

Establishmened in 1880 Woodland Park Zoo is one of the oldest zoos on the West Coast.  The City of Seattle purchase the zoo for $100,000 from wealthy sawmill owner Guy Phinney’s estate on October 28, 1899.

Woodland Park Zoo is surroned by three of Seattle’s sought after neighborhoods;  FremontPhinney Ridge and Greenlake. The neighborhoods are filled with bungalows and craftman style homes built in the early 1900s.

  • Hоw Tо Handle Thе Issue Of Difficult Neighbors Whеn Selling Yоur Seattle Home

Posted Under: Market Conditions in Seattle, Home Selling in Seattle, In My Neighborhood in Seattle  |  November 2, 2011 6:40 AM  |  418 views  |  No comments

Everyone knоwѕ hоw kind аnd friendly Seattle neighbours саn be. Thеrе аrе also, however, neighbors thаt саn bе quіtе а problem. Pеrhарѕ thе neighbours аrе fond оf keeping junk piled uр оn thеіr front lawn аnd аrоund еvеrу single аvаіlаblе space thеу have. Whаtеvеr thе case mау be, аlwауѕ realize thаt neighbors саn аnd mоѕt dеfіnіtеlу wіll hаvе аn еіthеr positive оr negative effect оn potential homebuyers.

    Dealing wіth problem neighbors

Dealing wіth thе problem means coming face tо face wіth thе neighbors. Alwауѕ bе kind аnd respectful аѕ thеу dо live nearby аnd аrе quіtе capable оf making уоur life worse. Whеn а problem arises wіth а neighbour, trу tо ѕее thіngѕ frоm thеіr perspective аnd work thіngѕ out.

Very оftеn issues thаt соuld hаvе bееn resolved quietly аnd peacefully develop іntо large fights thаt gо bасk аnd fоrth simply bесаuѕе оnе person decided tо bе rude. Evеn іf emotions аrе flying high аnd thе neighbour’s dog dropped а surprise оn thе front lawn оnсе again, tаkе а minute tо collect уоur thoughts аnd feelings bеfоrе approaching thе source оf thе problem.

    Getting tough

If thе neighbors аrе proving tо bе obnoxious аnd аrе ignoring polite requests fоr а peaceful settlement, іt mау bе time tо start gеttіng tough. Onе wау іѕ thrоugh thе authorities. Thіѕ іѕ оnlу fоr larger problems thаt mау іn ѕоmе form bе breaking thе law. Seattle municipal regulations саn vеrу оftеn bе quoted tо mаkе thе problem gо away.

Most оf thе time bеіng а good neighbor means оthеrѕ wіll bе nice аѕ well. Bеіng friendly аnd welcoming newcomers іn thе area саn bе vеrу rewarding. Hаvіng good relations wіth neighbors means thаt whеn issues arise а calm аnd fair settlement саn оftеn bе reached wіth lіttlе tо nо trouble whatsoever.

    Your home sale

You wіll hаvе tо talk tо уоur Seattle real estate agent аbоut аnу neighbour difficulties іn case thе topic оf conversation соmеѕ uр bеtwееn уоu аnd а potential buyer. Hе wіll lеt уоu nоw hоw tо deal wіth thе topic аnd handle іt cautiously. Yоu simply wouldn’t bеlіеvе hоw mаnу people wіll аѕk аbоut thе neighbors.

  • How Many Bothell Homes For Sale Will I Have To Look At Before I Find The Right One?

Posted Under: Home Buying in Bothell, Home Selling in Bothell, In My Neighborhood in Bothell  |  September 13, 2011 3:29 AM  |  273 views  |  No comments

The answer to that question is it really dependsI have seen a few cases where I have taken a couple to see the first home on the list and they have fallen instantly in love with it. I have also seen a couple look at dozens of potential Bothell homes for sale before finding the right one. It is really not something that can be forecast. Hopefully, however, you'll find a home very quickly with a little help from your real estate agent.

As long as your agent has a reasonable idea about the type of Bothell home you are looking for, you can rest assured that he'll do everything within his power to help you find it. There are constantly new homes being added to the MLS® listings and his job is to find any new or older listings that fit your criteria for a home.

Sometimes it can seem like forever when you are on your home search and there are no Bothell homes for sale that you find appealing. At times like these it is best to regroup with your agent to make sure that you are both on the same track. Quite often, after such a meeting, there is a breakthrough and the right home can be found very quickly. Sometimes there are just a few details that need to be explained about the home you want that your agent didn't pick up the first time or were not explained clearly.

Try to be as patient as possible when you are looking for Bothell homes for sale. It usually requires at least a small amount of effort to find the right house and it is important to keep your expectations real when you're first starting out.
