One Step Forward and Two Steps Back For Plainfield Real Estate Market In May, 2011

It was one step forward and two steps back for the Plainfield real estate market in May, 2011. For starters, the total number of Plainfield homes for sale rose—much to the chagrin of Plainfield home sellers, no doubt—a significant 9.6 percent, from 197 in April to 216 in May.  Even compared to last May’s total of 210 listings this is a 2.9-percent increase in the total number of homes listed on the Plainfield real estate market. However, when viewed in quarterly increments, it becomes clear that the average number of homes listed for sale per month from March through May of this year was down 5.9 percent versus this same quarter last year, when the monthly average as 220 listings.
