  • Northwest Valley Boom On The Horizon

Posted Under: Market Conditions in Phoenix, Home Buying in Phoenix, In My Neighborhood in Phoenix  |  April 2, 2014 5:11 PM  |  537 views  |  No comments

Business is brisk for homebuilders in the Northwest Valley of Phoenix AZ as the nearly-completed Loop 303 opens the area to freeway drivers. New home builders in North Peoria are reporting shortages of lots.

Several new large communities are either in the planning stages or are now pre-selling. Tierra Del Rio, a master planned community, will have a mix of approximately 2100 residential units and a section for commercial. Saddleback Heights is a project surrounding Saddleback Mountain and will offer a variety of communities. Rancho Cabrillo at Dysart and Happy Valley Roads will provide 1400 residential units. Camino a Lago is perhaps one of the largest communities that will over about 3500 residential units. In fact, one project within Camino A Lago, the Meadows, has pre-sold around 830 of the 1500 lots that comprise the subdivision.

It’s not just new developments that are seeing a rebound of interest. The high end golf community of Quintero, which suffered greatly from the real estate woes of the past, is now seeing a healthy increase in sales.

  • Maricopa County Fair

Posted Under: Parks & Recreation in Phoenix, In My Neighborhood in Phoenix  |  March 22, 2014 7:53 AM  |  472 views  |  1 comment
Everyone knows about the Arizona State Fair in October, but if you are looking to satisfy your urge for fair food, fun and rides, check out the Maricopa County Fair! This is Arizona's largest county fair, and is held at the State Fair Grounds at 27th Avenue and McDowell Road in Phoenix AZ. Admission is free during certain times of the week, and includes all entertainment offered on the four stages at the event.

Of course there will be fun rides and your favorite fair foods, but the Maricopa County Fair tends to have more of a farm slant to it. The Youth livestock and small stock shows are a big draw for exhibitors, and the fair can be a great learning experience as well as loads of fun.

The Maricopa County Fair has a short run though; April 9-13, so make your plans now!  For more information, visit http://phoenix.about.com/cs/events/a/countyfair01.htm

  • Get Out!

Posted Under: Parks & Recreation in Glendale, In My Neighborhood in Glendale  |  January 16, 2014 2:12 PM  |  364 views  |  No comments
As in outside, that is! With the wonderful weather we’ve been having, it’s the perfect time to get outdoors and enjoy what the Valley has to offer. The area is blessed with hundreds of miles of trails in the surrounding mountains, but you don’t have to head to the hills if you’re looking to commune with nature.

The West Valley has several city parks and trails that offer walkers, joggers, cyclists and horse back riders opportunities to enjoy the outdoors.  The Grand Canal Linear Park offers a trail over 3 miles in length, running from 75th Avenue north of Camelback Road to 99th Avenue and Bethany Home Road. Skunk Creek Linear Park, running from 51st Avenue and Utopia to 73rd Avenue and Greenway, offers a similar length trail. However, this park joins up with Thunderbird Paseo Park and its 4 miles of trails, which allows for much longer trekking.

The Arizona Canal is a popular trail for outdoor enthusiasts. The most popular stretch seems to be from Metrocenter at 28th Avenue and Dunlap and east. Although this doesn’t seem to be an official park, it appears that some areas have been developed for recreation. For more information, visit http://www.localhikes.com/Hikes/UrbanRecreation_6200.asp
