I have lived on beautiful Lake Blue Ridge for the past three years, however have owned the same place on the lake since 1958. From a rustic old lake cabin to Log home living I have seen a lot of things here on the lake. I have never seen anything like the current situation here. Where water usually stands now is just a mud hole and I need to put on my distance glasses to see the water. It is strange but exciting to know that this is temporary and soon will have my lake back. TVA has been draining the lake since mid-July in order to get the water level low enough to work on the pen-stock which has been damaged. Then penstock carries water from the reservoir to the turbines which generate the electricity. They will install a new liner and will also stabilize the intake tower at the base. This should all be completed in time for the lake to begin filling sometime in the spring and depending on rain water be filled by late summer. The road crossing the dam will remained closed until project completion which will be in 2012. Here is a look at the lake normally and the lake currently. Like I said I have not seen anything like this before, I look forward to the project getting completed and have my beautiful lake view back.
