  • Rentable Floating Cabins Now Available @ Santee Lakes

    I'm a huge Lake Murray fan, and recently after discussing with a friend another lake alternative, we thought of Santee Lakes and googled the circumference to compare. Per the Santee Lakes website, I just discovered that they completed(March 2011) the addition of a $450,000 project; 7 prefabricated cabins at the water's edge, with 3 more cabins floating on pontoons on the water.

    Being that I grew up down the street, I'm usually one for further retreats, but this really sparked my interest- A neat get away for locals, and fun for out of town visitors, while not breaking the bank. It's a great concept and the cabins offer great amenities and are said to be spotless. Where else nearby can we get something similar to this? Can't think of anything!

    All cabins have air conditioning, heat, cable television and Wi-Fi access. Each has a kitchen with a stove, a microwave oven, a refrigerator; a bathroom with a shower; a living room w/a television & DVD player; a BBQ w/utensils & outdoor seating for two.

    • Waterfront units also have a fire ring. A pedal boat is docked at each floating unit. Prices range from $100 to $145/night. Dogs are not allowed.
    • For those who feel like "roughing" it, Santee Lakes has a campground with 300 sites, a swimming pool and clubhouse facilities with Wi-Fi and cable access. About 65% of Santee Lake's $3.5 million revenue comes from its campground fees.
    • The water at Santee Lakes comes from Padre Dam's recycling plant, which treats 2 million gallons per day. About 1 million gallons go into the lakes; the rest is used for irrigation.
    • Santee Lakes, at 9310 Fanita Parkway, is a 191-acre regional park and campground owned and operated by Padre Dam. It hosted more than 650,000 visitors last year. SignOnSanDiego.com

    I read a few of the review comments and just have to point out the positives of this project: besides all of the advantages above, Padre Dam's Santee Lakes is dedicated to business practices that minimize our impact on the environment, and saves energy while protecting the Recreation Preserve for generations to come.  What more can you ask for from a smaller town little nature get away that strives for sustainability and welcomes visitors?


    More Info from SanteeLakes.com: Our rental cabins provide a fun getaway for the entire family!  We have ten cabins to choose from. Seven are right on the water' edge on the northern shore of Lake 7 and three are actually floating on the lake.  All units have full utilities including AC & heat, TV, and WiFi.  They come furnished and include a restroom with shower, kitchenette, master bedroom, living room, porch and barbeque.

    Santee Open HousesI've been spending a lot of time in Santee lately, working with clients in the area, holding open houses weekly at the Canopy Park @ Riverwalk Community(See Here), and while I'm always in the area anyways meeting family or running errands- it's growth & new construction still amazes me.

    Santee is a great starter neighborhood and community to establish your life in. It's grown so much and yet still maintained a great vibe. With growth, something that has continued to require attention but has been lacking are some of the main roads in the city needing maintenance and re-paving. Low and behold, the City of Santee recently released news of yet another major project(Since their 52 to 67 was recently completed)- Major Street Repair Throughout the Zip Code Being Completed:

     

    When I was in high school(West Hills), driving home on Mission Gorge, especially after the rain, was a mess, especially due to the potholes. Years later and they're still here, just with new patching here and there, so this news of the road improvements are going to be a huge sigh of relief for commuters in the area.

    Santee Houses for Sale

    Per Santee's website, construction is beginning this year, and they are selecting the streets that are the most desperate to begin with first. Very glad they chose Fanita. I've sold a few properties around Fanita and this road improvement should help improve values and overall quality of life for residents.

    www.Santee.CA.us- The initial phase of work, estimated to cost $4.7 million, is expected to begin in July 2011. The bulk of the work will be applying rubberized asphalt to road surfaces. But repairs will also be made to storm drains, concrete sidewalks, curbs, gutters and the installation of pedestrian ramps. A second phase of road improvements is expected to cost $1.8 million, bringing the total price tag to approximately $6.5 million.

    The following streets are included in the first phase:

    •  Fanita Parkway
    •  Lake Canyon Road (Fanita Parkway to Carlton Hills Blvd)
    • East Glendon Circle Neighborhood
    • Rumson Drive
    • Carlton Hills Boulevard
    •  Mission Gorge Road (Cottonwood Avenue to Riverview Parkway)

    The City's Development Services Department is planning to host a public meeting in late June to provide residents with more detailed information and answer questions about the project. In the next few weeks, informational flyers will be mailed to residents along the project boundaries.

    Treviso SanteeHaving grown up in Santee, I know all of the neighborhoods, and even since moving to the next town over (La Mesa), being in real estate and having family still in Santee, I've continuously kept up with the new construction throughout the neighborhoods over the years. As we all know, Santee has grown significantly in the last decade. Besides the fact, but I've always been more partial to the west side of Santee, probably since I grew up in the West Hills neighborhood. Come 2005- The Treviso condominium community was built near the 52 freeway off of West Hills Parkway and Mission Gorge(near Pure Flo) by William Lyon Homes. I visited Kmart here as a kid with my parents and remember seeing demolition clearing the site and later beginning construction on Treviso. Then touring the model homes several times when they were completed and immediately I fell in love with the gorgeous property.


    26 Via Montisi Model KitchenLast August I sold 26 Via Montisi, which was a former model home for the builder- and the largest floor plan in the complex of the 5 different floor plans offered. I learned all the ins and outs and comparisons of Treviso versus the other new Santee communities for sale that were our competition, as I was in a competitive market with a seller that was up against several distressed properties and more than ever needed top dollar. While all of the other new communities (Sky Ranch, River Walk, Morningside, etc), all have their individual advantages, Treviso truly has a great central location being seconds from the 52 freeway and 125. It's private, has low HOA fees, each unit has its own trash bins(may not sound like a big deal but if you're a homeowner would you rather walk to a community dumpster with your trash or use the trash bin in your garage?), and last but not least, beautiful well maintained and private property grounds. Not to mention, over the course of the listing I met dozens of neighbors and homeowners via open houses and just frequenting the property that I can truly say were a pleasure to encounter and very friendly.


    Via Montisi, Treviso SanteeI sold 26 Via Montisi for $355,000- which may be the highest sold in the complex since the down turn of the market. Come today nearly a year later and another unit, same floor plan just sold for slightly under mine, which shows what great value there is for the size and community. However surprisingly there are several units for sale of the smallest floor plan in the complex- 2bedroom/ 2bath/1,015 square feet offered $230k and below, with the lowest priced short sale unit asking $185,000. Do the math and these are great units to invest in right now- this is thus far, the lowest they've sold for so far in the Treviso. Truly a great opportunity- What better time than the present to buy at the lowest yet? Message me today for more info on floor plans and availability.
