The first month of 2012 is almost over; did you manage to keep your New Year's resolutions?
I, like many others, decided to make my physical health a priority this new year. Thankfully, I've got a good inspiration and motivation support at home. My wife and I invested in an elliptical
late last year as well as fitbit
activity trackers and since the start of 2012, the competitive nature in both of us has kept us moving! I've been waking up early for the last two weeks to 'run' on my elliptical, on average of three miles a day! I discovered, thanks to my fitbig ultra that during my "desk days" when I write blogs and meet with buyers in my office at PMZ Modesto
,  I only take 3,000 steps-it is recommended to take on average10,000Â
steps! I was shocked to discover how sedentary my life was and I was, to be honest a little disgusted with myself. I let this disgust motivate me to get going and get active. Today, I've taken nearly 7,000 steps and its only mid afternoon, I am going to keep my New Year's resolution! Are you?
I was talking to my little sister and she too has been keeping up with her resolutions. She mentioned that she wanted to take more hikes and enjoy the outdoors more, especially since we live in such an ideal place (only miles away from some of California's beautiful stateÂ
parks). She recently moved back to California and doesn't have too many "hiker" friends-but she didn't let that stop her! Evidently, there is something called Meetup
, a website that connects people who want to do something, learn something, share something or change something in various regions of the states; she found that in the Central Valley there are groups of people of all ages who have get together and "meet up" depending on their interest. Here she found a group of StocktonÂ
based hikers and is now connected to 150 people who take bimonthly hikes in the wonders of Northern California! It's amazing how much the internet (that has in essence, been a reason for our sedentary lifestyles) can help us connect and get out there and stay active!

As the month comes to an end, reevaluate your goals for the year and determine if you are moving forward!
Best of luck and Happy New Year, don't let the year pass you by!
