MBTA Commuter Lines in Metrowest MA

The MBTA Commuter Lines (Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority) system keeps those of us in the suburbs comfortably connected to all points in Boston and Worcester.

Natives of Massachusetts refer to the Mass transit railway system as the "T".

With corresponding bus lines, the T system can take through most of the urban and suburban areas of the state.

The MBTA Mass transit system consists of the following lines:

    • The Blue Line - MBTA Commuter line from Revere to Boston
    • The Green Line - MBTA Commuter line from Newton/Brookline to Boston/Cambridge
    • The Orange Line - MBTA Commuter line from Malden to Forest Hills
    • The Red Line - MBTA Commuter line from Braintree/Ashmont to Cambridge
    • The Silver Line - MBTA Commuter line from South Station to Logan and South Boston

MBTA Stations are available throughout the Metrowest area.

For those living in Westborough, the MBTA Station is located at Smith Parkway and Fisher Street.  There are 443 parking spaces available at $4.00 a day.

Hopkinton residents share the train station in Southborough which is located on 87 Southville Road with 364 parking spaces. MBTA Commuter Lines in Metrowest MA

Residents in Ashland have an MBTA Station available to them on Pleasant Street next to Burnham's Supper House on Route 135 with 678 parking spaces.

If your home is in Framingham, you can board the MBTA Station at Irving Street and Concord with 166 parking spaces available for commuters.

Natick residents have a choice of two MBTA Stations - one in downtown Natick at 1 Walnut Street with 71 parking spaces or the West Natick Station located on 249 West Central Street.  It has 178 parking spaces available.

Whether your destination is the office, baseball at the Fenway, the theatre or the ballet - the MBTA Commuter train will get you there.

  • Massachusetts Moves Toward Cell Phone Restrictions While Driving

Posted Under: Traffic & Public Transportation in Massachusetts  |  February 12, 2010 7:46 PM  |  463 views  |  No comments
Massachusetts drivers do not have the best reputation.  I guess you could say they are easily distracted.  Eating and makeup application rank up with some of the bigger distractions but the legislation is currently going after the combination of driving and talking on the cell phone.

The Massachusetts House passed a bill recently that includes some severe restrictions on cell phone usage. It was passed by a margin of 146-9 following a debate that stretched over the entire afternoon.

With the overwhelming sentiment that it is not possible to watch the road while dialing a phone, they decided that it is time for all drivers making phone calls to use only hands free devices.   They are also calling for a complete ban on texting while driving.

Additionally, in the wake of a number of recent accidents involving older drivers, including one that killed a 4-year-old girl at a crosswalk last year and several that resulted in the deaths of drivers' spouses, the bill also went on to include some proposed rules targeted at seniors. Older drivers will be required to have a vision test every five years.

Hands free bills and elderly driving revamping have gone through in the house before and have died on the senate floor.

The number of incidents involving older drivers would be an indication for at least an eye test - Isn't it time to make the roads safer?

The bill is once again headed for the Senate.
