HOW TO STAGE WITH PURPOSE

There is so much more to professional home staging than sprinkling around a few accessories and filling rooms up with furniture.  Home Staging really is a science and although homes that have rental furniture brought in for the purpose of warming them up do show better than homes without furniture, that alone, falls short of the goals of a home stager.  

When home stagers bring in furniture and accessories they do so with strategic placement plans.  Because the eye looks for a place to rest and the brain tells the eye what to do next, accessories are placed to create the path home stagers  want the eye to travel and rest.  Each accessory must have purpose and make sense.  For example, I have seen homes staged with accessories about every foot or so on the kitchen counter, that constitutes visual clutter.  However, if an accessory or feature piece is placed at the far end of a kitchen counter, the eye travels down the counter looking for something of interest and then rests on the accessory at the end. The additional benefit of purposeful accessories that make sense is that it warms the property and gives it a sense of scale and purpose.  A Professional home stager knows how to do this.

StageRight has a preferred REALTORTMprogram for Realtors with whom we collaborate on-a-regular bases.  We hold quarterly Lunch and Learn programs for agents in our service area to keep them up on our industry, what works, what doesn't.  We write a monthly newsletter, I teach Staging to Sell and Staging to Live classes at the local community college at their Life Long Learning Center (Kellogg Community College),have written a weekly article for our local paper titled Ready for Market.  We are a Family Partner for Habitat for Humanity as well as supporters of the Pet Friendly efforts of the Humane Society of South Central Michigan.  As the owner I am a regular blogger trying very hard to encourage staging throughout south west Michigan.
