Gay Friendly Neighborhoods in Austin, Texas

Originally from Chicago, I moved to Austin in 2004. When I first moved to Austin I wasn't sure where I should settle down and which neighborhoods were the most gay friendly. This is a common question I hear from my clients relocating to Austin from larger cities. The first thing you'll hear people say is Austin doesn't have a gay neighborhood because it is such a progressive and liberal city. Gay people feel comfortable and live in all neighborhoods. That is correct. I really feel comfortable all over Austin. But for people moving here, it's important to know which neighborhoods in Austin are more gay friendly and what kind of culture/housing they would provide. Here's a list of the top 10  most gay friendly neighborhoods in Austin.

2. Central East Austin
3. Downtown Austin
4. Travis Heights
5. South Congress
6. Allandale
7. Hyde Park
8. University Hills
9. Rollingwood
10. Westlake

You should add the Lakehills Community off of Bee Caves and Cuernavaca to your list! It's a great pocket community with a wide variety of people who move here for the uniqueness of the neighborhood. You won't find anything like it in all of Austin!
