Credit Karma is free for now, and its a great tool whether you are thinking about your home or simply monitoring against identity theft.
A heart breaking story that we see in the mortgage industry all too often is of the uninformed consumer who comes in thinking that they can buy a house, only to find out that they have a poor credit score that will either greatly effect their interest rate on a home loan or completely prevent their purchasing of a home. Unfortunately many consumers don’t pay any attention to their credit score until they need it for something.
Did you know your identity can be stolen and your credit score ruined without getting your credit card number stolen? Its a common misconception.
Credit Karma is different then the scammy  freecreditreport.com and other such services that offer you free credit reports but then sign you up for automatic enrollment in exspensive waste of money programs. Credit Karma really is free and they claim to have no plans of charging in the near future. Their revenue model is ad driven and you will have targeted ads on the side of the screen based on your demographics. That being said the same is true of all free services like Facebook and Google.
The site also has a valuable tool where they show you different credit card options, with average rates, fees, rewards offered, etc. Overall i highly recommend signing up or having your clients sign up with Credit Karma, it seems to be no risk for now and as long as you keep checking every couple months it seems like a safe bet that can save you money and piece of mind.
