User Experience Designer Do you love user experience and need to work with creative and talented folks on cool products that people need? Can you balance business, marketing and creative goals to drive user-interaction and engagement? As our traffic and revenue have steadily grown in the past year, Trulia is looking to hire a User Experience Designer to take the lead in defining solutions for new and existing product features for real estate agents.
Our team of energized and happy people is made up of diverse interests and personalities. We’ve got semi-pro athletes, ping-pong enthusiasts, avid surfers, chicken farmers, jugglers, knitters and everything in between. But we share one common focus: making killer products that will improve the really hard and potentially un-fun process of finding the right place to live.
Our ideal candidate will have an interest in actively contributing to building the greater vision for user experience design principles and practices at Trulia. Applicants must be a dynamic design thinker and a passionate advocate for our customers.
Responsibilities: • Develop a strong understanding of our user's needs and behaviors.
• Sketch, wireframe, and otherwise prototype the user experience and flows.
• Transform ideas into gorgeous pixel-perfect mockups.
• Work in close collaboration with team members to develop initial strategies addressing product, brand, marketing, content, and overall user experience.
• Collaborate with product managers and engineers to optimize for customer needs, business constraints, and technological realities.
• Conduct user research including contextual interviews and usability testing.
• Contribute to Trulia's positive internal atmosphere, quality of work and innovation practices.
• Develop style guides and specifications to document your work and the site-wide system.
Requirements • Minimum 5 years hands-on start-up or agency experience.
• Outstanding portfolio demonstrating your approach to projects, quality of thought, storytelling and an ability to bring your ideas to life.
• Communicate design ideas proficiently with well honed writing and presentation skills.
• Illustrate concepts through sketches, wireframes, user flows, mockups and prototypes, etc.
• Fluency in UI deliverable creation tools; Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and Omnigraffle, etc.
• Experience designing and conducting user research and testing.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize, and solve problems proactively and creatively.
• Experience working on small collaborative teams.
• Familiarity with technical issues and ability to work constructively with engineers.
• Great attitude with ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while juggling multiple projects.
• Degree in a related field such as UI Design, Human Factors, Product Design, Graphic Design, Industrial Design or Interaction Design preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• HTML, CSS and JS skills for prototyping.
Extra credit • Mobile/device design experience.
• Experience designing and conducting user research and testing.
• Experience with Agile development methodology.
