What Locals Say about Hingham

"I’ve lived here for nearly 14 years and it is a nice neighborhood. It’s quiet and a safe place to take walks or run. It’s centrally located to Boston and surrounding areas in addition to Plymouth which is a straight shot down route 3. Plenty of shops and grocery stores within a few miles but definitely easier to have a vehicle vs rely on public transportation. "

"Strong community feel as people are involved and opinionated, very much kid oriented with many levels of sports leagues, lots of natural beauty with many trails in the woods and along the coast line., and great commute service into Boston by ferry or train."

"Awesome! Access to commuter boat (which is an unbelievably reliable and relaxing system) AND walking access to commuter train. Not many neighborhoods in the world have this kind of choice. "

"It’s far enough away but close enough that it’s not an inconvenient drive. I am able to avoid highways as well. Close to Boston without dealing with the congestion of city traffic. "

"the main road, rte 3A, into Hingham is very busy in mornings and at rush hour. The road is a 45 mph and on average, people speed 50-55mph, not a safe road to walk or bike, but most of Hingham is walk/bike friendly"

"About a 5 minute drive to Hingham Center, 3-5 minute drive to Stop and Shop, CVS, Trader Joe’s and 4-5 restaurants! On a good traffic day you can be in Boston in 20-25 minutes. It’s also a 2-3 minute drive to the Hingham water taxi and commuter rail. It’s the perfect location!"

"It’s great here. I’ve lived here for 20 years. It’s a great place to raise a family. It’s easy to commute to Boston by boat. It’s nice to live on the water, the waterfront is accessible to everyone. The restaurants are great too."

"It abuts conservation land and a cemetery. It’s very private. There is a golf course at the end of the street."

"Commute to Boston on the train and boat is very easy. Which is shocking from the south shore. Driving or lunacy. Very nice people, especially the new residents. The older generation is anchored in the past and I think it ends up being a good balance - some times. Very patriotic town. Returning military members get huge turn outs from the town and the 4th July parade is right out of a Norman Rockwell painting. Restaurants not great. It needs to improve. Also the town government seems to be out of control with the condo developments - has potential to shift the educational structure or warp it. "

"You can walk anywhere - downtown, the center, playground, tennis courts, shopping, restaurants and the harbor."
