"My neighborhood has terrible commute traffic to town. The highway is only 2 lanes & there is only one way in & out. Needless to say traffic during regular commute hours for school & work can get gnarly. "

"To the town of Pahoa it’s only about nine minutes. For a commute to Hilo it’s closer to 35. Most of the things that we need are within a 10 minute drive. But this allows for quiet neighborhoods and fairly dark skies at night for stargazing. Traffic is usually light except when there is construction. Even when is there is it’s usually only a momentary delay. "

"The neighborhood in general is very excepting of dogs and most people have them. Most people observe leash laws and keep their dogs in check. Dog’s seem to represent a measure of security for the house owner. There are no dog parks per se in this area but plenty of quiet streets to walk your dog on. "

"Mostly quiet and friendly. Close to the Ocean. Rains daily and everything is green. Great for a garden. Community pool is nice. Quick access to town. "

"Watch your children’s and get security systems. Not everything is scary but to be on the safe side of things home security is always good also considering the wild animals."

"Dog should be leashed or fenced at all time. Most dogs are good tempered, certain breads do scares people and there children . Most home owners want a guard dog. "

"Quiet most times with the occasional argument and police presence. Lock your doors and beware of randomly nice people that come visiting you just to say hello. This is not that kind of neighborhood. "

"Swap meets are cool. I wish they maybe opened an hour later and stay open the extra hour. Dog walking, now that’s cool! Good exercise for man and beast! Nice meeting folks while walking."

" its a secluded neighborhood w/a lots of trees, bushes, exotic plants & fruits. Nanawale Est does provide a community park, pool & residential P.O box when theirs one available. Where I live theres no pave rd. it's just a gravel rock dirt rd. & there is a leash law on this island, island wide."

"Great well kept neighborhood. Hawaiian Shores offers mail delivery and private water. Beautiful recreation area and park with swimming pool. Ocean is just at the end of the subdivision and has a great park to enjoy. Very low HOA fees."

"Hawaiian Shores is a quiet well kept subdivision in Pahoa. There is a awesome pool and parks. Mail delivery and private water. Just a short distance to the water with a beautiful park. Great neighbors!!"

"We have a community swimming pool & chidrens park, close evry Tuesday here @ the Nanawale community center every month there's always something the community put together 4all family to come and enjoy the festivity."

"Pay close attention to you children, especially when they are growing older. Stay involved with your kids so they will know that you care for them and most of all, tell them that you love them. They grow up fast!"

"they wouldn't like my road because there's no street lites & it's a rocky dirt rd. neighbors at times let their dogs run loose. I'm working on fencing my yard."
